Sydney, Australia: Kirsten Rudgeley added another prestigious trophy to her cabinet with a one-shot victory in The Avondale Amateur.
The Australian number one fashioned rounds of 73, 71, 71 and 73 for a level-par 288 aggregate around Avondale Golf Club in Pymble, to add the trophy to four she collected last year, including the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open and English Women’s Amateur titles.
On the back of her latest success, Rudgeley climbs four places to a career high 41st in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Also making positive moves last week were Chinese Taipei’s Huang Ting-hsuan and China’s Ye Lei.
Huang made her initial move into the top 90 with victory in Taipei’s First Selection Tournament for the 2022 Asian Games National Squad and 2022 National Team Selection.
Thanks to her two-shot victory, Huang has advanced five places to 86th.
For her part, Ye has improved her status as China’s second best player after eighth-ranked Yin Xiaowen by edging up one spot to 20th.
Among the men, New Zealand teenager Jayden Ford started his 2022 campaign by reaching a new high after winning The Avondale Amateur.
Ford came through a three-man play-off to win at Avondale Golf Club. The 18-year-old posted the lowest aggregate score in a three-hole decider with Australians Andrew Richards and Jasper Stubbs after they finished on six-under-278.
In the WAGR, Ford jumps 222 positions to 399th. Richards rises 73 places to 145th, while Stubbs is 444 spots better off in 567th.
