Pennsylvania, United States: Chinese duo Lin Yuxin and Bo Jin are on course to qualify for the match play segment at the weather-hit US Amateur Championship.
On Tuesday afternoon, play in the championship’s 121st edition was halted for nearly four hours by storms in the area.
The morning wave of players on both Oakmont Country Club – which is hosting the championship for a record-tying sixth time – and stroke-play co-host the Longue Vue Club, in nearby Verona, were able to complete 36 holes of stroke play.
However, the 156 afternoon starters in the field will have to complete round two on Wednesday morning, after which the 64-player bracket for match play will be decided, likely in the early afternoon. The round of 64 will begin after a play-off, if necessary, to decide the final spots in the bracket.
Two-time Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship winner Lin was among those able to finish his second round.
The left-hander, who made the cut at last month’s Open Championship at Royal St George’s in England, followed his opening 72 at Oakmont with an even-par 70 at Longue Vue.

With a 36-hole total of 142 he is currently in equal 53rd place. As of now, the cut-off is at two-over 142 although it's projected to fall at 144.
Bo also appears to be in good shape, although he still has to negotiate the final 11 holes at Oakmont.
Having posted a one-under 69 at Longue Vue on Monday, Bo made an excellent start to his round at Oakmont, snaring birdies at the long fourth and short sixth. He is two-under for his round through seven holes and tied 11th overall on three-under.
Among those who will be closely following the end to the second round is Japan’s Taiga Sugihara who has given himself a chance to progress thanks to a second-round 69 at Longue Vue for a two-day aggregate of 144.
One of the high-profile casualties who will be packing his bags is Keita Nakajima, number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
The Japan Amateur champion signed for a 71 at Longue Vue. But the damage for him had been done on day one when he carded an 80 at Oakmont where he managed only five pars.
