Singapore: The journey to becoming elite professionals is being solidified with the launch of the inaugural LLD International, where close to 100 top amateur boys and girls from the Asia Pacific are competing at Laguna National Golf Resort Club this week.
The 54-hole World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) stroke play tournament is also the first fully international mixed golf amateur event in Singapore, where valuable WAGR points are also on offer.
The LLD International features a handful of the girls who competed at the same venue in last week’s Queen Sirikit Cup, along with several top-ranked boys who have flown into the Lion City to battle for the event’s first championship trophy.
Among the leading females are Singapore’s Jaymie Ng, Malaysian Ng Jing Xuen, Indonesian Elaine Widjaja, Samantha Marie Dizon of the Philippines and Hong Kong’s 14-year-old Arianna Lau, who played her way into the local psyche by finishing third at the EFG Singapore Junior Masters.
Lyn Yeo, Founder of LLD Sports Development and Management, said: “We are excited and eager to witness the rise of the next generation of golfers from the region at the inaugural LLD International. This tournament will continue to provide opportunities for talented young golfers to put their skills to the test and showcase their talents to the golfing world.”
