Strong Field for Australian Master of the Amateurs
A strong field will assemble at Southern Golf Club for next month's Australian Master of the Amateurs.

Melbourne, Australia: The next instalment of the Australian Master of the Amateurs takes place from January 9-12 at Southern Golf Club.

Among the well-known players who participated in the tournament prior to turning professional are Jason Day (2006), Rickie Fowler (2009), Tommy Fleetwood (2010), and Bryson DeChambeau (2015).

The 2024 field will host 168 players across 22 countries and territories - Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, England, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Samoa, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, and Wales.

The tournament is a 72-hole stroke play championship with a cut after 54 holes.

Last year, the 26th men’s winner was England’s John Gough, who has now turned professional.

The sixth women’s champion was Japan’s Yuna Araki, who went on to finish joint third in last year’s Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific and is currently eighth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

Leading the men’s field next month will be Cole Sherwood, 15th in the WAGR, and fellow-American William Moll, 21st in the WAGR.

Jayden Ford, ranked number one in New Zealand, Hong Kong number one Wang Ngai Shen and Chen Kuangyu, ranked third in Australia, also add depth to the men’s field.

Leading the women’s field will be Avani Prashanth (India), ranked 55th in the world, followed by Justice Bosio (Australia), ranked 69th in the world, and 2022 champion Jeneath Wong (Malaysia), ranked 72nd in the world, with Japan and Chinese Taipei players to be finalised.

The final two days of play and the presentation will be broadcasted live on the SEN TV APP.
