Hanoi, Vietnam: Last week marked the opening leg of the 2026 Hanwha Life - Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) Junior Tour, designed to develop and nurture the next generation of young golf talents in Vietnam.

Over the past three years, the VGA Junior Tour has established itself as a core tournament system for the under-eight through under-18 age groups, playing a fundamental role in discovering and training youngsters.

From this platform, many athletes have matured, made their mark on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and become important members of the National Golf Team, contributing positively to achievements in regional and international competitions.

The over-arching goal of the VGA Junior Tour is to build a systematic, fair competition environment with a long-term development roadmap for young golfers.

In 2025, the VGA Junior Tour staged eight tournaments across three regions – North, Central and South Vietnam – providing opportunities for young athletes nationwide. Notably, the final leg of the season was expanded to an international scale, welcoming athletes from many countries and territories in the region, contributing to improved professional quality and competitiveness.

Entering the 2026 season, the National Junior Golf Tour system has officially been named Hanwha Life - VGA Junior Tour.

The system has been restructured towards greater professionalism with six key Tier 1 tournaments, while expanding the sponsorship and scoring system for junior tournaments organised by local golf associations, golf courses, and clubs. It’s the aim that the tournaments within the system will reach international standards, expanding to invite athletes from the Asia-Pacific region.

Vu Nguyen, General Secretary of the VGA, said: “Hanwha Life’s partnership as title sponsor is a boost for the VGA Junior Tour to enter a new, more professional and integrated phase of development. This is the foundation for us to continue investing in the future generation of young golf athletes in Vietnam.”

Hwang Jun-hwan, Chairman of the Board and General Director of Hanwha Life Vietnam, said: “We aspire to work with the VGA to elevate the national Youth Golf Tournament System, from organisational quality and professional standards to the competition experience, so that golf becomes an inspiring sport and more young people can access and become involved with golf from an early age.

“In the long term, we aim to find, select, and sponsor professional training programmes for young talents according to international standards, contributing to preparing a quality force of athletes for the national team as well as creating a path to top-level and professional competition in the future.”

With nearly 18 years of dedicated investment in the prosperity of the country and future generations, Hanwha Life Vietnam is a pioneer in affirming the responsibility of a life insurance company, not only in protecting finances and health today but also in laying solid foundations for tomorrow.

In that spirit, Hanwha Life Vietnam is a pioneer in investing in youth sports in general and junior golf in particular as a way to realise its commitment to sustainable development – where values of discipline, resilience, perseverance, and ambition are nurtured from the outset.

With a long-term vision, the partnership between Hanwha Life and the VGA is considered a strategic step in the sustainable development of golf, starting with the most important task: investing early in the younger generation, nurturing talent today to create a professional athlete force for the future of Vietnamese golf.

“This is a crucial foundation contributing to promoting the position of Vietnamese golf on the regional and international golf map,” said Vu.
