Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), through its Women in Golf Charter (WIGC), has officially launched the Swing for Pink Charity Drive.
This nationwide initiative aims to raise crucial funds for the PPUM B40 Breast Cancer Diagnostic Fund, which provides access to life-saving diagnostic services for under-privileged women in Malaysia.
The campaign will culminate with a charity golf tournament on September 25 at The Mines Resort & Golf Club, uniting the golfing community, corporate sponsors, and the public in a shared mission to fight breast cancer through awareness, support, and action.
In the lead-up to the golf event, the organising committee has carried out several meaningful activities:
· On July 6, MGA partnered with Regen Rehab Hospital to host a Breast Cancer Awareness & Wellness Talk, engaging survivors and the public on early detection and mental wellness.
· A second awareness talk was held on August 3 at the Royal Selangor Golf Club, continuing the conversation with medical experts and community members.
· On July 25, MGA organised a Community Golf Day at Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) to introduce golf to breast cancer survivors as part of their physical and mental recovery journey.
In a significant corporate partnership, BHPetrol has also joined the cause by launching a nationwide donation campaign at all BHP stations, where members of the public are encouraged to donate any amount. The funds raised will go directly to the PPUM B40 fund, providing mammograms, biopsies, ultrasounds, and other essential diagnostics for women who cannot afford them.
“Partnering with PPUM was a natural choice,” said Dato’ Merina Gan, Chairman of the MGA Women in Golf Charter. “Their commitment to early detection and support for under-served women aligns perfectly with our mission. This is not just about golf – this is about giving women a fighting chance.”
Professor Madya Dr Azura binti Mansor from University of Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) added: “The PPUM B40 Breast Cancer Diagnostic Fund enables us to provide timely diagnostics for women who would otherwise delay or forgo care due to financial hardship. Early detection saves lives, and this fund plays a critical role in bridging that gap.”
The Swing for Pink campaign has received overwhelming support from the corporate sector with the MGA expressing its appreciation to major sponsors Yayasan Sultan Azlan Shah, Hong Leong Assurance and PMI Berhad.
Supporting Partners are Cuckoo Malaysia, Chen Furniture, Amanra Foundation, Weststar Group, Mahumas Sdn Bhd, Poh Kong Jewellers Sdn Bhd, CIT Travel, Bernama, BFM Radio, ReGen Hospital, Posture Align and Kibana Japan.
During a press conference at The Mines Resort & Golf Club, the MGA announced that BAuto Management has stepped forward to sponsor the Hole-in-One prize for the charity golf tournament, a new Mazda CX-30 2.0G worth RM139,000.00.
