Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Defending champion Ng Jing Xuen and Malaysia’s top lady amateur Mirabel Ting will renew their rivalry at the 38th Templer Park Country Club Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open Championship, which will take place from July 15-17.

At last year’s championship, 2023 Southeast Asian Games individual gold medallist Ng clinched the title by five shots over Ting, Charlayne Chong and Singapore’s Inez Ng. At the subsequent RSGC Ladies Amateur Open, it was Ting who triumphed by five over Ng. Ting is currently ranked 22nd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), while Ng is in 166th position.

Organised by the Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (MALGA) and staged at Templer Park Country Club, the annual championship is the highest-weighted WAGR ladies’ golf event in Malaysia.

Golfers will compete for the DYMM Tunku Ampuan Negeri Sembilan Trophy, awarded to the overall champion, the YAM Tunku Tun Maimunah Trophy for the mid-amateur division, the Maria Musa trophy for the senior division, and the Mary Williams Trophy for the team event.

This year’s edition is expected to attract close to 100 leading amateurs from China, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong (China) and Malaysia. It will once again be followed by the RSGC Ladies Amateur Open at The Royal Selangor Golf Club on July 23-25.

Past local winners of the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open include Lim Siew Ai, Lim Ai Lian, Michelle Koh, Kelly Tan and Nur Durriyah Damian.
