Augusta, Georgia, United States: General Abdullah Al-Hashmi has updated Masters Chairman Fred Ridley on preparations for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC).

The 16th edition of the AAC is scheduled to take place at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai from October 23-26.

During his visit to Augusta National for the 89th Masters Tournament, General Abdullah, Vice President of the Emirates Golf Federation and a Board Member of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), met with Ridley.

Reflecting on his trip to the US for the year’s first male Major championship, General Abdullah said: “It was a weekend that I will remember for a very long time. The level of excellence, not only on the golf course, but also around the property of Augusta National, has certainly left an impression on me to bring back to the UAE. I am glad that I got to witness the tradition like any other.

“During my visit, I had the opportunity to meet with Chairman Ridley to discuss preparation for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, as well as the impact that the UAE has had on amateur golf.”

The AAC was created in 2009 as a joint initiative to grow the game by the APGC, The Masters Tournament and The R&A.

The champion receives an invitation to compete in the Masters Tournament and The Open, while the runner(s)-up gain a place in Final Qualifying for The Open.

Among those who accompanied General Abdullah to The Masters were Emirates Golf Federation Board Member Mustafa Al Hashimi and Chris May, CEO of Dubai Golf.
