Singapore: Male and female players of all ages will have the chance to showcase their talent in Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) events in 2026.

This year’s APGC calendar includes a total of nine championships spread across six countries and territories – China, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

Bones Floro, Chairman of the APGC’s Championship Committee, said: “We’re delighted to announce our full schedule of events for 2026. With so many outstanding tournaments and venues it promises to be a memorable year for amateur golf in our region.”

In addition to individual championships for male and female juniors, seniors, mid-amateurs and elite amateurs, there are team championships for men and women.

The 46th edition of the annual Amateur Ladies Asia-Pacific Invitational Golf Team Championship for the Queen Sirikit Cup will take place at Indonesia’s Sentul Highlands Golf Club from May 13-16.

There, a record number of countries are expected to participate and take aim at preventing Korea clinching a 16th win out of the last 18 championships, having missed out only in 2013 and 2022.

Meanwhile, the 31st staging of the biennial Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship for the Nomura Cup will take place at Beijing’s Bayhood (No 9) International Golf Club from September 8-11 with Vietnam bidding to retain the title it won for the first time in 2024.

Australia will hope the return of the Nomura Cup to China for just the second time in its 63-year history is a good omen. When Wu Yi Fountain Palm Golf Club played host in 2001, the Australian quartet of Andrew Buckle, Steven Bowditch, Marcus Fraser and Luke Hickmott emerged triumphant.

Players selected to represent their countries in the region’s two most prestigious team championships are also likely to be to the fore in New Zealand this year with the Land of the Long White Cloud afforded the privilege of staging both the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) and the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC).

Launched in 2018, the WAAP has been developed by The R&A and APGC to unearth emerging talent and provide a pathway for Asia’s elite women amateurs to emerge on the international stage. Shining examples are Atthaya ‘Jeeno’ Thitikul and Yuka Saso, who are among those to have progressed from the WAAP to become stars of the LPGA Tour.

The winner at Royal Wellington Golf Club next month will be granted exemptions into three Major championships in 2026 – the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes, the Amundi Evian Championship in France and the Chevron Championship in the United States. They’ll also receive invitations to a handful of other elite championships including the Hana Financial Group Championship, ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, The 123rd Women’s Amateur Championship and the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

From October 29 to November 1, the region’s finest male golfers will head to Te Arai Links on the outskirts on Auckland for the AAC, inaugurated by The R&A, The Masters Tournament and the APGC in 2009. The winner in New Zealand will receive exemptions into the Masters Tournament and Open Championship in 2027.

Following the success of the inaugural APGC Mid-Amateur at Jakarta’s Gading Raya Golf Club in 2025, the event returns to Indonesia this year, at Gunung Geulis Golf Club in Bogor.

The APGC Mid-Amateur Championships will return to Indonesia in 2026 with the addition of a women's segment and team tournament.

The first Mid-Amateur Championship attracted a 76-strong field made up of men from 11 countries and was staged in four age divisions – Group A (ages 25 to 29); Group B (ages 30 to 37), Group C (ages 38 to 46) and Group D (aged 47 and above).

“For this year, we’re working closely with the Indonesia Golf Association and will be including a team element for men as well as the addition of a women’s segment,” said Floro.

The APGC Senior Championships, perennially over-subscribed, will take place in the former Portuguese enclave of Macau, now a Special Administrative Region of China in November, dates to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The APGC’s emphasis on youth is underscored with three junior events on the calendar, commencing with The Royal Junior in Japan from April 17-19.

Sri Lanka’s historic Royal Colombo Golf Club will host the APGC Junior Championships from June 17-19, with many of the contestants also likely to be in the starting line-up at the previous week’s APGC-sanctioned Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship at Damai Indah Golf's PIK Course in Jakarta. It's the first time the event has been included on the Confederation’s schedule.

Reflecting on the 2026 calendar of events, APGC Chairman Philip Hassall said: “We’re pleased to present such an impressive line-up of events. Our thanks go to our partners at The R&A and The Masters, our sponsors and all the hosting associations and venues.

“What makes all our APGC tournaments so special is the mix of people and cultures, languages and backgrounds. We all follow the same R&A rules and play the game with the same spirit and a shared love of golf.”
