APGC Ushers in Exciting New Era

Singapore (August 3): The Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) has teed off a new era with the launch of a revamped website and an increased social media presence.

“After many months of planning and co-ordination, we’re delighted to announce that the new APGC website – www.apgc.online – has gone ‘live’ today,” said Taimur Hassan Amin, Chairman of the APGC, the representative body for 46 national golf associations.

“In this day and age, having a robust communications platform is absolutely crucial – and that is what we are building,” said Amin, also referring to the Confederation’s Twitter account (@The_APGC).

“Being able to inform and engage with all of our member associations and federations via our communication channels is critical, especially during these times when travel is restricted and tournaments are being placed on hold.

“We’re excited at the prospects of capitalising on our new communications capabilities and spreading the word about the APGC’s activities in our region.”

As well as the website and Twitter presence, the APGC will be rolling out a free monthly e-newsletter. Anyone is welcome to join our mailing list by simply entering their name and email address via the prompt on the homepage (pictured below).

“Our aim is to provide the most comprehensive resource for information – present and historical – about amateur golf throughout the Asia-Pacific,” said Amin.

To that end, key features on the new website include extensive future event listings, past results from the APGC’s portfolio of high-profile events and a multimedia section that includes photo galleries, videos and podcasts.

Divided into five sections – Men's, Women's, Juniors, Seniors and Teams – the Calendar of Events will include dates and venues of all national championships at member national golf associations as well as other prominent amateur championships around the world.

The results segment, meanwhile, focuses on past stagings of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific, Nomura Cup, Queen Sirikit Cup, APGC Senior Championship, APGC Junior Championship Mitsubishi Corporation Cup, Bonallack Trophy and Patsy Hankins Trophy, and the Asia-Pacific Open Diamond Cup Golf on the Japan Golf Tour Organisation schedule.

“This information has never before been collated under one banner,” said Amin. “It will prove to be a fabulous resource for anyone wanting to delve into the history of the eight championships under our auspices, dating all the way back to the first Asia-Pacific Men’s Amateur Team Championship for the Nomura Cup at Wack Wack Golf & Country Club in the Philippines in 1963, the year that the APGC was inaugurated.”

Within the multimedia category, visitors will also be able to explore a treasure trove of historic material, including photo galleries from past APGC events, as well as a variety of videos and podcasts

“We are indebted to our partners and friends at The R&A and The Masters Tournament for allowing us to showcase some of their materials on our website,” said Amin, adding that the website will also provide live scoring from its events that return to the calendar in 2021.
