Tian Primed for Junior Presidents Cup Challenge

Chicago, United States: Nomura Cup winner Ethan Tian, last year’s Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) runner-up Taisei Nagasaki and 2025 Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Junior champion Cooper Moore will fly the flag for the International Team at the 2026 Junior Presidents Cup.

Tian was a member of the Hong Kong, China line-up that emerged triumphant in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Team Championship in Beijing last week, an event in which Nagasaki and Moore represented Japan and New Zealand respectively.

At Medinah Country Club on a special routing of Course No 1 and Course No 2 on September 19-20, Tian, Nagasaki and Moore will be part of a team bidding to defeat the United States for the first time in what is the fifth edition of the Junior Presidents Cup.

The 12-strong International Team also features Vietnam’s Nguyen Tuan Anh, Thai Settawut Kenanan, China’s Wu Qiyou and Li Zhi and Korean duo Kim Min-su and Son Je-yi.

The International Team has 10 countries represented, which is the most ever in the event’s history. China and Korea are the only countries represented by two players on the team. The other countries are Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Thailand, Argentina, Guatemala and Colombia. 

The International Team is led by 2019 Presidents Cup alum and Olympic medallist CT Pan, of Chinese Taipei.

The Junior Presidents Cup is a two-day, team match play competition featuring 24 top junior boys, aged 19 years old and younger. The juniors are split into teams of 12, half from the United States and the other half from around the world, excluding Europe.

Taking place just days before the start of the biennial Presidents Cup, the Junior Presidents Cup was developed to give the world’s best non-European juniors a unique playing opportunity to compete in an international team match play competition and showcase the global reach of junior golf.

Five-time Presidents Cup participant Matt Kuchar will captain the US Team as they look for their fifth-consecutive victory in the competition after lifting the cup at Le Club Laval-sur-le-Lac (2024), Plainfield Country Club (2017), The Royal Melbourne Golf Club (2019) and Myers Park Country Club (2022).
