Thai Teen Namo Triumphs at RSGC

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Thai teenager Namo Luangnitikul chalked up her second title on Malaysian soil with a wire-to-wire victory at the 49th Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) Ladies' Amateur Open Championship.
Winner of last year’s Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open, the 17-year-old from Phuket was the picture of steadiness as she carded rounds of 72, 70 and 73 for a 54-hole aggregate of four-under-par 215. The tournament was contested at RSGC’s par-73 East Course, comprising the first nine of the Old Course and the second nine of the New Course.
Namo finished three shots clear of Malaysian Wang Xin Yao, who ended her campaign on one-under 218 (72, 74, 72). The powerful Thai contingent claimed third and fourth positions through Arisa Bintachitt (220) and Sarisa Pojanalai (223) respectively. Singapore’s Passion Hsu rounded out the top-five with a total score of 226.
The 2025 APGC Junior Girls' champion Kritchanya Kaopattanaskul recorded the tournament low score with a closing round of six-under 67. However, the Thai had to settle for seventh place, having shot 81 and 80 on the first two days.
This year's championship attracted a strong line-up of elite amateurs from 11 countries – Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, USA, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Organising Chairman Omar Salim noted that the championship continues to reflect RSGC's commitment to developing women's golf in the region.
"For nearly five decades, the RSGC Ladies' Amateur Open Championship has provided talented young golfers with the opportunity to compete against the region's best while fostering excellence, sportsmanship and friendship. We are proud to continue this tradition and remain committed to supporting the growth of women's golf across the Asia-Pacific," said Salim.
“As the championship approaches its milestone 50th edition next year, The Royal Selangor Golf Club remains committed to delivering a world-class tournament that nurtures emerging talent and strengthens its legacy as one of the region's most prestigious women's amateur golf championships,” he added.
With a colourful history dating back to 1893, RSGC is Malaysia’s oldest existing golf club. Located in the heart of the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, the verdant fairways of the parkland-style course contrast dramatically with the gleaming skyscrapers of the city skyline.
