Singapore: The next generation of golf stars from the region are set to light up the Singapore Junior Championship presented by BFG Golf when the tournament tees off at the Keppel Club from June 10-12.
The 54-hole championship will feature a strong field of promising junior golfers from across Asia-Pacific, including several national squad members, established junior champions and rising talents looking to make their mark on one of the region’s premier junior events.
Leading the home challenge will be Troy Storm, Chloe Ng, Reyes Halim, Aamiya Koul and Amelie Ng, who have all represented Singapore at regional and international competitions.
Currently 371st in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), Storm is aiming to go one better than last year when he finished runner-up to Thai Ajalawich Anantasethakul.
If Storm is to have his name inscribed on the trophy, he'll need to overcome a strong international contingent that includes elite junior golfers from Thailand, Japan, China, Korea and Australia.
Among the standout names are Thais Wirada Tawinsang and Settawut Kenanan, both of whom are armed with impressive handicaps and strong resumes.
Wirada will arrive in Singapore as one of the region’s leading junior girls after capturing the 2024 Singha Thailand Junior World Championship title and recording several strong finishes on the Thai junior circuit, including a runner-up result at the TGA-SINGHA Junior Golf Ranking event.
Settawut has also established himself as one of Thailand’s top junior prospects, highlighted by victory at the 2024 Singha Thailand Junior World Championship.
Both players are part of Thailand’s emerging generation of golfers who continue to strengthen the country’s reputation as one of Asia’s leading golfing nations.
Past Singapore Junior Championship winners include Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chieh-po, who has since progressed to the Asian Tour after winning the LIV Golf Promotions event in 2024.
For the first time in Singapore Junior Championship history, prize money will be awarded to the individual boys’ and girls’ champions, as well as the winning teams, to further support junior player development. The overall boys’ champion will also earn a spot in the 2027 Singapore Open, subject to eligibility requirements.
The Singapore Junior Golf Championship is part of SGA and BFG Golf’s continued efforts to strengthen Singapore’s junior golf eco-system and create clearer pathways for aspiring young golfers.
