SICC Receives Sponsorship Boost for Junior Golf

Singapore: The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) has marked a significant milestone with an official sponsorship-signing ceremony confirming Charles Schwab Singapore as a sponsor of the 31st SICC Junior Invitational Golf Championship (JIGC).

Now in its 31st edition, the championship will be held from December 16-18 at the SICC’s historic Bukit Course. Recognised as one of Asia-Pacific’s most prestigious junior tournaments, the JIGC brings together top youth golfers from across the region.

With the support of Charles Schwab, this year’s championship will deliver an enhanced tournament experience, giving juniors the opportunity to compete, develop, and prepare for the highest levels of the sport.

A long-standing advocate of golf, Charles Schwab is deeply involved in the game’s development at all levels – from grass-roots to elite. It is the title sponsor of both the Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour and Charles Schwab Cup on the PGA Tour Champions, reflecting its alignment with the values of discipline, integrity, and performance. Its commitment to the JIGC builds on this legacy, helping to cultivate the next generation of golfers across Asia-Pacific.

Sanctioned by the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) and recognised by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), the JIGC stands as a key event in the region’s junior golf calendar. Played over 54 holes in a stroke play format, the championship features Boys’ and Girls’ divisions across multiple under-19 age groups. Each year, it draws more than 100 aspiring golfers from around the region, reinforcing its reputation as an incubator for future champions.

The JIGC is played on the revered Bukit Course, a historic layout with over a century of legacy. Known for its challenging terrain, majestic mature trees, and rich heritage, the course provides a fitting championship setting where junior golfers can experience elite-level competition in an authentic and prestigious environment.

Over its three-decade history, the JIGC has been a launch-pad for numerous accomplished players. Among its notable alumni are Tseng Ya-ni, a former world number one and five-time Major champion on the LPGA Tour; CT Pan, a regular on the PGA Tour; and Miguel Tabuena, a regular on the Asian Tour. Their success stories are testament to the tournament’s role in shaping world-class talent.

“The JIGC has become a cornerstone event for junior golf in the region. With the generous backing of Charles Schwab, we are proud to continue shaping a platform where young golfers can grow, compete, and thrive,” said How Seen Yong, Club Captain of SICC.

Ian Roberts, General Manager at SICC, added: “We are honoured to welcome Charles Schwab as a sponsor. This partnership underscores SICC’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of golfers by providing them with world-class platforms to showcase their talent. Together, we are creating opportunities that will inspire, empower, and shape the champions of tomorrow.”

Greg Baker, Managing Director (APAC), Charles Schwab SG Pte Ltd, said: “We are delighted to support the SICC Junior Invitational Golf Championship and the promising young golfers it brings together. At Charles Schwab, we believe in investing in potential. This event reflects our global commitment to the sport – from rising stars to seasoned professionals.”
