Singapore: Cooper Moore and Kritchanya Kaopattanaskul have reached career-high positions in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
On the back of their respective victories at the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championships, New Zealander Moore and Thai Kritchanya have both made notable progress in the standings.
Moore, who claimed the Boys’ title over the Hong Kong Golf Club’s Old Course with a three-round total of nine-under 204, has soared 55 spots to 199th.
It’s the first time the 16-year-old has broken into the WAGR’s top-200, solidifying his position as the third highest-ranked Kiwi behind Zack Swanwick (104th) and Joshua Bai (166th).
Meanwhile, Kritchanya, who edged Korean Park Seo-jin for top spot in the Girls’ championship, has improved her ranking by 15 places to 77th.
Kritchanya and Park both ended the 54-hole event on 12-under 204. However, thanks to a closing eight-under-par 64, Kritchanya was awarded victory on a countback from Park, who signed off with a 69.
Park’s performance saw her rise two places to 37th, while Australian Raegan Denton has improved nine spots to a career-high 89th following her third place finish.
Hong Kong’s Arianna Lau, who was bidding for a third straight APGC Girls’ title, ended fourth on her home course but has also moved up one slot to 46th.
Despite the disappointment of being overhauled by Moore on the final day in Hong Kong and having to settle for second place, Vietnam’s Nguyen Tuan Anh enjoyed a 52-place rise to 345th in the WAGR.
Winner of last month’s Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, Tuan Anh is now the third highest ranked Vietnamese after Nguyen Anh Minh (64th) and Le Khanh Hung (261st).
Thailand’s Parin Sarasmut, third among the Boys in Hong Kong, progressed 26 spots to 335th.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Tanjira Issaraphon and Thanatchaporn Insang made huge leaps after impressive displays in the 32nd Singha Thailand Ladies Amateur Open.
Tanjira, who triumphed with a 36-hole total of 138, has risen to 821st, up 169 places.
Thanatchaporn, who shared fourth spot, progresses 795 positions to 996th – the biggest mover of the week in the women’s rankings.
