Bogor, West Java, Indonesia: The second edition of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Mid-Amateur Championship is an opportunity for Indonesia to showcase itself as a world-class golf destination with international-standard facilities and management.
Following its successful hosting of the debut event last year, the APGC Mid-Amateur Championship returns to Indonesia from June 23-25 with the East Course at Gunung Geulis Country Club in the spotlight.
Speaking at a pre-tournament press conference today, Suharsono, Secretary-General of the Indonesian Golf Association (PB PGI), and APGC General Manager Nick Shan outlined their hopes for the growth of the championship that launched at Gading Raya Golf Club in 2025.
Suharsono said: “This tournament is an important platform for experienced players who have good track records at national and international levels. Beyond strengthening relationships between nations through sports, this event will support the growth of amateur golf and the sports industry in Indonesia.
“It is an excellent opportunity to showcase Indonesia as a world-class golf destination with international-standard facilities and management.”
Shan thanked Indonesia’s ruling national golfing body for its commitment to the championship and highlighted the fast growth of mid-amateur golfers in Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and across Southeast Asia.
Shan said: “On behalf of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, we are deeply grateful to the Persatuan Golf Indonesia (PGI) for hosting this APGC Mid-Amateur Championship. Indonesia has many incredible facilities, and we thank Gunung Geulis for opening their doors to us.
“The development around Gunung Geulis over the past five years has grown drastically, successfully promoting golf as a lifestyle in this area. We also thank the local team who successfully delivered the Queen Sirikit Cup a few weeks ago, and we look forward to another outstanding championship here.”
Organising Committee Chairman Buddy Mangundap said to date more than 60 players from nine countries have signed up to take part.
“The committee and all stakeholders have co-ordinated closely to ensure smooth operations. We thank our sponsors, partners, the government, golf federations, volunteers, and the media for their full support,” said Mangundap.
Players can expect outstanding conditions.
